Connectivity Protection through Firewalls
BitCo has applied strict Firewalls to ensure maximum safety from viruses, worms and hackers.
The Firewall acts as the first line of defence against external threats. It governs what data can access the network from the Internet. It uses a predefined set of rules as a check-list to determine if the data entering the network is secure. Packet headers are inspected to analyse: protocol type, source address, destination address, source port, and/or destination port. Packets that do not match the criteria are rejected.
A Firewall can be either a device or an application. Any and all access points on the BitCo network have Firewalls applied. This includes routers which are supplied with BitCo connectivity. This is usually referred as a managed service because BitCo will manage and maintain the firewalls on the device to maintain the highest standards of security possible.
In addition to Firewalls, BitCo uses Intrusion Detection Systems and Intrusion Prevention Systems for the protection of all our subscribers and in order to uphold our guaranteed 99% uptime.
